“Business Incubation is a unique and highly flexible combination of business development processes, infrastructure and people, designed to nurture and grow new and small businesses by supporting them through the early stages of development and change". © UKBI, 2004
The Business Space is an incubator unit, run by the Designer Forum (part of EMTEX Ltd) to create affordable workspace for new and established clothing and textile companies. The Business Space offers 15 individual studios, as well as a communal studio area, with hot-desk computer facilities for an additional 5 start-up companies in their early stage of development.
Based on Lower Parliament Street in city centre Nottingham, the Business Space specializes in providing support to businesses working in the fashion & textiles industry and has been home to companies involved in a range of design and innovative product areas, such as designer fashion, historical costume, corsetry, accessories, designer interior products, swimwear and specialist manufacturing for the likes of Jasper Conran and Mathew Williamson. Companies based within The Business Space have already been featured on Channel 4’s Grand Design & Big Brother, BBC’s Working Lunch & Gardener’s World.
The companies situated in The Business Space will also have access to various facilities on offer through the Designer Forum and EMTEX, such as
· the East Midlands Design Resource Centre
· sample production area
· business workshops and mentoring programmes
· Unlimited broadband internet connection (including access to WGSN website – normal subscription costs £18,500 per anuum)
Originally part-funded by the Innovative Cluster Fund (ICF), The Business Space is pleased to be recognized by the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) accredited incubation centre.
