EMTEX, as the lead body for Materials in the East Midlands, has secured a new materials project. This project is being part financed by the European Regional Development Fund [ERDF] through emda’s 2007-13 ERDF Competitiveness Programme.
EMTEX/EMMAT, working on behalf of emda, will establish the regions first Materials Centre, from this HUB will be delivered several initiatives. EMTEX will run and deliver this new 3 year project and will have a drop in centre based in Nottingham City Centre. The HUB will be a focus on materials and its role and usage in developing SME opportunities.
Materials [inc reclaimed and Advanced Materials] are key elements, be it in products, techniques or processes that fundamentally impact on the competitiveness of all businesses. The project is designed to support small to medium size companies within the East Midlands to harness Knowledge Transfer, Raising Awareness, Accelerate Innovation, Assist in Developing, Improve Skills And Knowledge, and Create A Better Business Environment. The project’s resources will include a portal and database, provide workshops/seminars and be a meeting venue with displays. It will also be able to demonstrate International Best Practise, and have a Materials Recycling/Reclamation theme.
EMMAT [EAST MIDLAND MATERIALS SECTOR] will be the brand under which the project is promoted.
Specific focus on Food, Construction, Transport and Medical Sectors, along with Plastics, Metals, Technical Textiles, Composites and other groups where resource is required.
