June 2013 - Textile Training
The Emtex Board of Directors have identified that many companies are wanting to keep production in the UK but are facing a skills shortage. So have created a survey to look at your training needs and requirements.

Regional Clothing and Textile Training/Apprenticeship Survey

Offshore manufacturing issues have made an impact on the supply chain, making designers and companies think about their morale conscience and of the logistics and economics involved.
Many are thinking about bringing their manufacturing back to Britain. The manufacturing skills do still exist in the UK but the current workforce is of a more mature vintage .
To be able to have the ongoing skills base, we need to establish training routes for younger people and the unemployed to get them trained in these traditional skills.

For clothing and textile manufacturing to return to Britain and to remain here for years to come we need to address this now and establish the training needs of the future.

Emtex is fully behind this initiative and is therefore asking for your help in completing the survey below to help us identify needs and possible solutions.

• Would you consider taking on an Apprentice?
• If so, do you know what this entails?
• Would you like to employ someone who has the relevant basic skills? [ie they can operate a sewing machine]
• Would you like some training for your current workforce?
• Do you have any vacant space or equipment that you would be willing to use?
• Are you an experienced trainer in clothing and textile manufacturing, willing to pass on your skills to others?
• Would you consider establishing a Training facility at no cost to you?

Please email us with your thoughts/comments or click on the following link to complete the survey online http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MQMBM66

The results will help to determine current and future demands and may lead to the establishment of one or more training facilities in the region.

February 25th 2013 - Press Release
EMTEX transfers the DESIGNER FORUM to the Confetti Media Group.

Emtex has transferred its unique Designer Forum operation to the Confetti Media Group, who are a key player and partner in Nottingham City's Creative Quarter.
The Designer Forum will now be serving all sectors, not just Fashion and Textiles as it has done in the past for over 17 years.
This is a phased transition and both organisations will remain as working partners in the future. The acquisition and transition will take place over the first quarter of 2013, and will be completed by June 2013.
Emtex will now concentrate on supporting the Clothing and Textile sector as an industry Trade Association and will relocate its offices into one of the 16 Business Space units on Lower Parliament Street Nottingham which they run and manage.
The main focus of Emtex is to deliver Key Business Support to its members, through a wide range of services including Employment, Legal Advice, Business Mentoring, Health and Safety, Trade and Exporting support, access to Grants and Venture Capital. These are just some of the core services which has seen this trade association lead the way in helping small business’s since 1994.
Emtex is also currently delivering several projects in the region and in Europe.
Jeff Scrivner the trade associations Managing Director said,
” Emtex created the Designer Forum in 1995 to support the Fashion and Textile sector’s needs, but with the demand from other design areas, the Designer Forum now needs to evolve and invest into other creative sectors such as Interiors, Furniture, and Architects to name a few. These directional demands are outside of the Associations Clothing and Textiles remit and we needed to ensure the best future support for all designers.
This evolution required a partner who can service those new markets and I am pleased to say that Confetti Media Group are the ideal partner to take the Designer Forum into these new exciting areas. We will be working closely together to ensure a smooth transition.”
Emtex will now be contacting all clothing and textiles companies in the region with further details and information on membership.
